To comply with this clause, you must install a pliable building membrane like our Breathable Membrane with a Vapour Permeability Class 3 or 4.
NCC changes are to Climate Zones 6,7 & 8 – however you should always check with the cladding manufacturer’s as some require our Breathable Membrane behind all their cladding from Zone 2 to 8.

The Condensation Management clause will only apply to wall wrap products that have water hold-out (water barrier) properties. This means that a non-water barrier (or a perforated foil breather product) may still be installed onto an external wall frame in any climate zone, provided there is a drained cavity. As Brick Veneer construction includes a drained cavity by default, this means that all Brick Veneer in any climate zone may use Rhino Wrap Breather, however, should your builder/customer classify a Water Barrier we offer Rhino Primo Wrap which has a Water Barrier classification.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. Can we still use Breather behind Brick Veneer?

    Yes, the NCC states as long as there is a drainage cavity in the construction, as Brick Veneer has by default, Rhino Wrap Breather can still be used. However, if a High-Water Barrier is required by the builder, you can use our Primo Wrap.

    Q. Do I only use Breathable Membrane behind Cladding in zones 6,7 & 8.

    National Construction Code (NCC) Changes state this as their requirement, however, some Cladding manufacturers have widened that range to Zone 2-8 – please check your suppliers’ website for clarification.

    Q. I am installing Hardie’s cladding, do I have to use their Membrane?

    No, the Hardie’s requirements (as well as the NCC changes) classification clearly states Vapour Permeability Class 3 or 4. Our Rhino Breathable Membrane complies with those requirements.
